If You Read the Quran With the Eye of a Researcher What Will You Find at Its Center

Most of the verses of the Noble Quran came to affirm the creed of monotheism and to call to the sincere devotion of worship to Allah alone without partner either with explicit wording or by indication

Indeed most of the verses of the Noble Quran came to affirm the oneness of divinity and the oneness of lordship and the names and attributes and the foundations of faith and Islam and matters of the unseen and divine decree its good and its evil and the Last Day and Paradise and its people and its bliss and the Fire and its people and its punishment The foundations of creed revolve around these matters

01

Among the earliest of what the Quran came down with and what Allah commanded His Messenger peace and blessings be upon him to do was to declare the greatness of Allah and magnify Him alone and to warn people against shirk and to purify himself from sins and wrongdoing and to abandon what they were upon of idol worship and to be patient upon all of that

02

Allah تعالى says O you who are wrapped up arise and warn and your Lord magnify and your garments purify and abandon defilement and do not give expecting more and for your Lord be patient Surah Al Muddaththir 1 to 7

03

The scholars mentioned that the Quran is one third rulings one third reports and one third monotheism This is how they explained the saying of the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him Say He is Allah One equals one third of the Quran

The verses of rulings are not free from mention of creed and the foundations of religion through mentioning the names of Allah and His attributes and obedience to Him and obedience to His Messenger peace and blessings be upon him and mentioning the wisdoms of legislation and similar matters

Likewise the verses of reports and stories most of them are in faith and belief through the news of unseen matters the warnings the Last Day and similar matters

Ibn al Qayyim said The focus in the Meccan surahs is on the foundations of religion namely affirming monotheism the resurrection and prophethood As for establishing rulings and laws its place is the Medinan surahs

Most of the time of the Messenger of Allah peace and blessings be upon him during prophethood was spent establishing correct belief The Messenger peace and blessings be upon him spent twenty three years calling to Allah of which thirteen years in Mecca were calling to the oneness of Allah and rejecting shirk and corrupt beliefs and ten years in Medina were distributed between legislating rulings strengthening creed preserving it protecting it from doubts striving in its path meaning that most of it also was in affirming the creed of monotheism and the foundations of religion Among that was debating the People of the Book clarifying the falsehood of their distorted beliefs confronting their doubts and the doubts of the hypocrites repelling their plots against Islam and the Muslims All of this is part of protecting creed

The Messenger peace and blessings be upon him fought people upon the creed of monotheism so that the religion would be for Allah alone even though other forms of corruption and evil were widespread at that time He made the goal of fighting the realization of monotheism and the pillars of Islam because all goodness depends upon sound creed If creed is sound people stand upon truth and goodness and if it is corrupted the conditions of people are corrupted desires and sins become entrenched and forbidden matters become easy

Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما reported that the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him said I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah and they establish prayer and give zakah If they do that they protect from me their blood and their wealth except by right of Islam and their reckoning is with Allah
