True Equality: The Divine Standard for Humanity
Throughout history, human-made social systems have often categorized people into rigid hierarchies, stripping away the fundamental dignity of certain groups. However, when we look toward divine guidance, we find a message of absolute human equality.
To understand the difference between human-made complications and divine justice, we can examine the ancient social divisions described in texts like the Manusmriti (Manu Shastra) 1.
This system famously fractures humanity into four strict categories based on birth: Brahmins, who are believed to be created from the head of Brahma; Kshatriyas from the arms; Vaishyas from the legs; and Shudras from the lowest part, the feet 2, 3.
Under these human-made rules, Brahmins are granted absolute supremacy and freedom to do as they please within society 1, 3. Conversely, the Shudras are relegated to a life of servitude, considered untouchable, and even barred from entering temples 3.
The injustice extends to property rights; the text claims that a Brahmin can forcefully take a Shudra's property without committing a sin, because a Shudra is not allowed to be a master of property 1.
“The Holy Quran establishes the ultimate standard for human equality, declaring that all people were created by the One God and share the exact same parents 5, 7. God explicitly separated humanity into different groups not for discrimination, but so that people could develop mutual love and cooperative behavior 5, 7.
