Are you the cause of sin… or a responsible human being?

In some religious and historical narratives,

woman has been portrayed as the origin of wrongdoing.

01

She tempted.

02

She corrupted.

03

She caused the fall.

This idea has deeply influenced how women are viewed across centuries.

But what does the Qur’an say?

(But Satan caused them to slip out of it)AL‑BAQARAH-36

The pronoun here is dual.

Adam and Eve together.

It does not say: he caused her to slip.

Nor does it place the blame solely on the woman.

Rather, it affirms shared responsibility in both error and accountability.

Then God says:

(Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words)AL‑BAQARAH-37

Repentance is always open.

There is no concept of inherited sin in Islam.

(And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another) [FATER 18]

You do not carry the burden of someone else’s mistake.

You are not judged for another person’s error.

You are not born guilty because of an ancient story.

You are an independent human being before God.

This meaning frees you from a deep internal sense of inherited blame.

In Islam,

woman is not a curse.

Not a source of temptation by nature.

Not morally deficient.

She is accountable.

Rational.

Responsible.

That is why the Prophet said:

“Women are the counterparts of men.”

Equal in humanity.

Equal in responsibility.

Equal in value before God.

When you realize that God does not see you as a historical mistake,

but as an honored servant,

your perception of yourself changes.
