If God is Self-Sufficient… why do people need many gods?
In India, you see thousands of temples. You see multiple statues. And gods for every aspect of life: a god for provision, a god for strength, a god for wisdom, a god for protection. But let us ask a very simple question: If the god is perfect… why would he need a partner? Islam does not begin with many details.
It begins with one single issue: Is the Creator perfect or deficient? Perfection does not multiply If more than one true god existed, then one of two things must happen: Either one is stronger than the other → then the weaker is not a god. Or they are completely equal → then who decides when they differ?
The Qur’an sets a clear rational principle: ( Had there been within them [i.e., the heavens and earth] gods besides Allah, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allah, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
Meaning: if the universe had more than one independent controller, its order would collapse. Look at the universe: The sun does not delay. The laws do not change. Nature operates with astonishing precision. This harmony indicates one will… not multiple wills.
The true God is not represented In some cultures, god is depicted in the form of a human, an animal, or a statue. But Islam asks a decisive question: Does the Creator resemble the creation? God says in the Qur’an: (There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
“Ask yourself: Is the god you worship perfectly powerful? Or is he part of nature? Or an enlarged human image? Islam does not ask you to abandon your belief without thinking. Rather, it asks you to think sincerely. If God is one, perfect, not in need, unlimited… Is it fitting for Him to have a partner? Or an image? Or offspring?
