The Dao as an Abstract Force versus the Doctrine of Tawhid (Allah, Glorified and Exalted)
Here emerges the most important ontological difference between the two systems, centered on the nature of ultimate reality. Taoism and Pantheism: The Dao is a neutral, silent, abstract principle. It is not conscious, does not hear, does not see, does not legislate, and does not concern itself with human suffering or destiny.
“This conception falls philosophically under the framework of pantheism, where the boundaries between the Creator and creation disappear entirely, and the universe itself is viewed as a continuous manifestation or emanation of the Dao.
Islamic Tawhid: The Qur’an presents a majestic and precise understanding of the Divine. Allah is the One, the Creator, the Originator, the Fashioner, characterized by perfect names and attributes. Islam affirms absolute transcendence (Tanzeeh): Allah is distinct from His creation and not united with nature in any form.
At the same time, He is near through His knowledge and mercy. He is the One who wills, creates with purpose and wisdom, knows all things—both hidden and apparent—and establishes justice without ظلم.
