- To whom he turns
- And what he expects from Him
But what happens… if the definition of God itself changes?
Does worship remain the same?
Or does its meaning change from the roots?
Worship is not a movement… but a relationship
Worship is not merely a ritual.
It is not a social habit.
And it is not a cultural heritage.
It is a relationship.
A relationship between a limited servant and a God higher than him.
If the definition of God differs, the nature of the relationship changes.
And if the relationship changes, the meaning of worship changes.
If the god is multiple
When the god is one and clearly defined, worship is directed to Him alone.
But if there is a wide number of gods, the direction becomes divided.
Each god is addressed for a purpose.
Each power is sought for a need.
Here a deep question appears:
Does worship become a distribution of functions?
Or does it remain a turning toward one comprehensive source?
If each aspect of life has its own god, does worship remain unified in its aim?
If God is an abstract philosophical idea
In some conceptions, God becomes an absolute cosmic principle.
An object of contemplation.
A supreme philosophical reality.
But worship is not merely mental reflection.
When a human being supplicates, he does not address an idea. He addresses the One he believes hears.
If God becomes an impersonal principle, does supplication remain meaningful? And does the relationship remain alive?
Here a problem appears in the very definition of worship.
If the distinction between the Creator and the creation dissolves
When it is said that everything is an extension of the supreme reality, the question becomes more sensitive:
If you are part of the Absolute, whom do you worship?
And if the entire world is an expression of God, does there remain any turning beyond the self?
Worship presupposes distinction.
If the distinction disappears, the direction disappears.
And can worship without direction remain worship?
Doctrinal fluctuation… and practical confusion
When multiple conceptions of God coexist within one framework:
- Unity
- Multiplicity
- Abstraction
- Unity of existence
A person may find himself moving between them without resolution.
But worship requires clarity.
