Fitrah and Reason Say the Same Thing Why the Universe Cannot Have More Than One God

A simple question that changes everything Imagine that you are walking in a vast desert and then you find a beautiful organized house Rooms arranged furniture organized food ready and everything in its place Can you say that this house appeared by chance Of course not The mind immediately says someone built it Now look at the universe around you The sun rises with astonishing precision The earth rotates with calculated speed The moon moves in a stable orbit The laws of physics operate with precision that never changes This universe is immeasurably greater than any house or city So how could it exist without a creator Both the natural disposition and reason testify that this universe has a wise Creator What if the universe had more than one god Now let us ask a deeper question If there were more than one god managing the universe what would happen Imagine a single city ruled by several kings and each one wants his decision to be the one that is carried out Would the city remain stable Or would chaos spread everywhere The answer is clear Order cannot continue if there is more than one absolute authority (Had there been within them [i.

e., the heavens and earth] gods besides AllŒh, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is AllŒh, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe).

For this reason the precise order in the universe indicates a clear truth there is only one Creator who governs this universe Why does the human being feel comfort with the idea of one God Notice something important within yourself When a person thinks about one God who is capable of everything he feels inner peace But when he thinks about many gods each with different powers the mind becomes confused Whom should I ask for help Who has the final decision Who actually created me AllŒh has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity.

[If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have [sought to] overcome others.

The human natural disposition always inclines toward simplicity and clarity For this reason the idea of one God is more consistent with human nature than any other idea Why did people worship many gods throughout history A person may ask if the natural disposition inclines toward one God then why did people worship many gods The answer is simple Over time human beings may move away from the original natural disposition because of traditions and customs inherited by society People may begin by honoring a righteous person Then honor turns into reverence Then reverence turns into worship In this way many gods appear But when a person reflects honestly with his mind he discovers that these gods cannot be creators of the universe The natural disposition returns in moments of danger Observe something that happens with all human beings When a person falls into severe danger such as drowning or a sudden disaster what does he do At that moment he forgets all complicated ideas He calls upon only one God Even someone who worships many gods in a moment of danger turns with his heart toward one Creator This behavior is not a coincidence It is evidence that the deep natural disposition within the human being knows the truth Islam returns the human being to the simplicity of truth Islam does not present a complicated philosophy It does not ask the human being to worship hundreds of gods or spirits Instead it presents the truth in the simplest form One God created the entire universe He is the one who created you He is the one who hears you He is the one who knows what is in your heart You do not need a mediator between you and Him You do not need statues or complicated rituals Simply turn to Him directly The truth waiting for your decision In the end the real question remains before every human being Can this great universe exist without a creator And can it have several creators When a person answers honestly he discovers that the truth is clear there is one God who created everything This truth is not only what Islam says It is the natural disposition that your heart has known since the day you were born
