Meena’s Journey When Questions Led a Brahmin Woman to the Light of Islam
Dr Meena the daughter of a distinguished Brahmin family was living a life that appeared complete from the outside academic success social respect and recognized religious status But inside her there was another kind of battle a battle of endless questions Who are we Who created this world Where do we go after our final breath fades Heavy questions began knocking on her mind during her university years She turned to the sacred books in Hinduism and read the Gita repeatedly discussing questioning searching Yet the deeper she went the more confusion increased instead of fading Her Muslim friends often spoke about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and about their love for his Sunnah At first she did not give their words attention she even considered Hinduism higher and more elevated Yet the seed of the question was growing silently in her heart Then the day came when she decided to look at Islam not through the lens of comparison but through the lens of a seeker of truth She opened the Qur’an for the first time Many pages were beautiful but something changed when she reached Surah Al Ikhlas
“(Say, "He is AllŒh, [who is] One, AllŒh, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.
" ) ( Surah Al Ikhlas 1–4) Meena stood before the verses as if she had finally found the answer she had been fleeing from for years One God not resembling anything not born nor giving birth complete in Himself This clarity was striking pure logical without myths and without complex symbols She said to herself This this is what I have been searching for She continued studying Islam seriously With every step she found answers to the questions that had exhausted her for so long Until the day came when she felt that the voice of truth had become stronger than everything else She sat before the camera in an interview and said calmly and firmly Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings Peace was the first declaration Then she said her name and smiled a new smile as if she had been born again She concluded her words with the Ibrahimic prayer in a humble voice as if the path that began with questions had finally ended with certainty O Allah send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad as You sent prayers upon the family of Ibrahim and bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed the family of Ibrahim in the worlds indeed You are Praiseworthy Glorious After that she lived her life with the light of monotheism and faith far from the darkness of shirk and idols.
