Is Paradise a Form of “Liberation” Like Moksha?

A final philosophical question may arise: is Paradise in Islam simply a form of liberation from worldly burdens and suffering, similar to Moksha in Hinduism?

The precise answer is that Paradise represents the culmination and continuation of divine نعمة, not a passive escape from existence.

In Paradise, the individual human self is not erased. Consciousness is not eliminated. The human being does not lose his identity or the memories that shaped his awareness.

Rather, the human being is rewarded with a perfect eternal life in which awareness is fully completed and purified from worldly نقص, while maintaining independence as an honored servant in the presence of his Lord, possessing the ability to enjoy whatever he wishes.

Moksha, in its ultimate goal, seeks to break the cycle of time and exit entirely from individual existence—as if the soul had never been anything at all.

In contrast, Paradise is a positive and conscious transition from a temporary life of trial to an eternal life of lasting existence.
