Was Muhammad ﷺ Just a Genius?
Was Muhammad ﷺ Just a Genius? Imagine a man living in the desert. No university. No books. No complex philosophies. A simple tribal society, busy with trade and conflicts. Then from this place comes words that change the world. Here, the mind automatically stops and asks: How did this happen?
A Common Explanation… But Incomplete Many people say: “Mohammad was an extraordinary genius.” This explanation might seem comforting. Genius explains intelligence. It explains influence. But does it explain everything we see? Let’s think about it calmly.
Genius Needs Tools Every genius in history was a product of their environment. They learned. They read. They were influenced by those who came before them. Philosophers read philosophers. Scientists studied sciences. Writers lived within a written culture. But Muhammad ﷺ was not known to have read or written. He did not sit under scholars.
He was not part of a prior philosophical or religious tradition. The question is very simple: Where did these ideas come from?
Genius Does Not Explain This Determination If a man were a person with personal ideas, it would be natural for him to say: “This is my idea. This is my interpretation.” But Muhammad ﷺ said something completely different: “This is revelation from God.” And he repeated this throughout his life. In prosperity. In hardship. Under harm.
“Genius Does Not Explain the Rapid Transformation In just a few years, a divided tribal society transformed into a nation with clear morals, laws, a system, and a vision for life. This was not just a change of ideas, but a change of the person. Genius might inspire. But can it reform with such depth and stability?
